Shipping or Studio pick-
Your Fairy door will be mailed to you in a small recycled box (Healing heARTs Studio is an advocate for reuse, renew, recycle) and mailed to you via USPS. If you are local to the area, you can choose the option to pick up your fairy door kit at the studio!
Displaying your painted fairy door-
You can add your painted fairy door anywhere you wish to add whimsy and delight. Placing your fairy door just above your floor trim inside any room in your home is the perfect little surprise spot for these artful fairy doors. This is the recommended placement and is the best place to really preserve and protect your painted creation.
Donna uses wall poster putty to stick her fairy doors onto the studio walls. The blue putty is the strongest.
You can place your fairy door outdoors too if you wish, if you properly seal your finished painted door (see How to preserve your fairy door notes) both on the front and back. It is recommended that you find a place that faces north so the colors will not fade from the sun so fast (they will over time). Make sure that the door has some kind of covering over top of it to protect it from weather and from debris falling on it. It can break if dropped or something strikes it. Bring in your fairy door before the snow flys, and store indoors in a dry location to prolong its condition.
Thank you in advance for supporting local, dedicated Artists like Donna.
Paint Your Own Fairy Door (Multiple designs to choose from)
Dry time:
After you finish painting your fairy door with your paints, allow the fairy door a good 3-5 days to dry before putting it in its new home on your wall. If your child had some thicker areas of paint allow for longer dry time before displaying.
Sealing your fairy door-
After you feel your painted fairy door is completely dry you can either spray or paint on a couple clear finishing coats of varnish (dry between coats based on the varnish recommend time) to help preserve and protect your layers of paint. If you are planning on placing your fairy door outdoors (sheltered area recommended) you should do a couple coats of clear varnish on the back of the door too.
